About Us
Serendib Sinhala School was founded by Uma Nawarathna. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Uma embarked on a journey that led her to the United Kingdom in 2011. During the challenging times of the lockdown, a parent's request sparked an idea within her - to offer Sinhala lessons for children. With determination and passion, she began teaching Sinhala in a corner of her home.
From those humble beginnings, Uma's vision grew. In 2024, she established Serendib Sinhala School, with a mission to cater to individuals keen on learning Sinhala as a second language and discovering the rich culture of Sri Lanka. Today, the school stands as a testament to Uma's dedication to providing quality education and fostering cultural appreciation.
